Loud is the fifth studio album by Barbadian recording artist Rihanna, released November 12, 2010, through Universal Music Group. Recording sessions and production for the album took place during February to August 2010, partially during Rihanna's Last Girl on Earth Tour. Rihanna worked with several record producers, including StarGate, The Runners, Polow da Don, Tricky Stewart, and Alex da Kid, among others. Loud heavily incorporates pop and dance-pop to offer up-tempo, sing-along and club-oriented songs. Loud also marks Rihanna's first return to a dancehall-influenced sound since 2006's A Girl Like Me.

The album debuted at number 1 on both the Canadian and Swiss Albums Chart. Loud entered the U.S. Billboard 200 at number 3, selling 207,000 copies in its first week, representing Rihanna's strongest first-week sales to date. Thus far, Loud has produced two singles that attained chart success, the international hit "Only Girl (In the World)" and "What's My Name?". To date, all the singles from Loud topped the Billboard Hot 100. Upon its release, Loud received positive reviews from most music critics.
